Two years ago, Devo had to cancel their headlining performance at Fun Fun Fun Fest due to injury and only weeks before the festival. It was announced that Descendents would be reuniting for the first time in about a decade to fill the spot, and as someone who was there, it was a blast. Our friends at Light and Noise TV were there to capture the whole thing, including the encore where Rise Against's Tim Mcllrath joined the band for "Bikeage." In case you haven't been able to see one of the one-offs, head to the replies to watch the full set. The seventh annual Fun Fun Fun Fest happens next weekend, and tickets are still available here.
We've finally made an Instagram account, so if you want to keep up with all our shenanigans at concerts, interviews, and more, make sure to follow @absolutepunk with your Instagram account.

Check out our interview with Toronto based journalist/Junior Battles band member Sam Sutherland over here. We discuss his new book, Perfect Youth: The Birth of Canadian Punk, which was released earlier this month through ECW Press. You can grab a copy here.
Today we're happy to bring you the first of three small interview features with Peace'd Out. Head to the replies to watch the band discuss the origin of how they came together to form the project. The self-titled debut EP will be available October 30th and can still be pre-ordered here.
Hey all, remember that Topshelf Records CMJ Showcase that we're presenting along with PropertyOfZack? There were spaces for a couple of mystery bands on the bill, and we're now allowed to tell you that Into It. Over It. is one of the special guests. He joins an awesome lineup consisting of The World Is A Beautiful Place..., Slingshot Dakota, A Great Big Pile of Leaves, Diamond Youth, Prawn, Have Mercy and one more special guest yet to be announced. Today's edition of the Self-Promotion Spotlight focuses on Las Vegas, NV's Avalon Landing. The quintet, which has been making music since 2003 (under the moniker Standard of Living) is currently in the pre-production phase of their as-yet untitled sophomore album. The piano-poppers play music not unlike Jack's Mannequin, My Favorite Highway and The Fray. Head to the replies to hear their song "The Cure." For more information on being the featured Self-Promotion Spotlight band/artist, sign up for an AP.net account and post in the Self-Promotion forum.

Last week I met up with Colin Frangicetto to talk about music and art. I began writing what was supposed to be last week's column, but other factors in my life got in the way, and I returned to it this week. At the same time, discussion brewed again about Buzzmedia "buying up all the punk stock" or whatever, and it just sort of hit me about how much we complain about the price of art and our trades versus the creation of it. You can read my very long rant on the subject here. This week I have one question for you: How much of your time, money and effort have you put into something you loved for more than just the return? Take this weekend to make like The Hold Steady, and try to stay...
As the second part of our Fest 11 coverage (we did a list of 22 bands you need to see last week), we asked our friend Dave Drobach (he plays in an awesome punk band called Grabass Charlestons and works at No Idea Records) for a little help in giving us some food recommendations in Gainesville. As a citizen of this upstanding town, I always speak highly of Gainesville's well-known Mexican restaurants, but there's a lot more to the food around here than just those places that everyone goes to every year. Dave essentially wrote up a guide to must-eat/drink restaurants all around town, ranging from the best places for coffee and beer to breakfast and brunch and dinner and everything in...
Hey all, a while ago we did an interview where users asked questions in the replies of a thread and the loving and ador(k)able AP.net staff answered them. Then we posted all our answers in a huge long interview. It's been a couple years since the last one so we want to do this again...so head to the replies to leave your questions. Try to make them pretty broad, although I guess you can ask a specific staffer a specific question if you really need to. We also might have some contributions to this interview from our awesome Voices partners, so if you have a question for them, drop it in this thread as well. All answers from us will be partially aimed at addressing any questions you guys...
Today, we're bringing you something a little bit outside of the normal day-to-day music you'll hear in these parts. Play Date is the husband and wife duo of Shanti Wintergate and Greg Attonito (The Bouncing Souls), and together they make a pretty outrageous, yet fun brand of family friendly music. Today marks the release date of their new album Imagination, and we're happy to be streaming it in the band's AP.net profile. Be sure to check it out and let us know what you think!

Head to the replies to check out the latest Music Biz column, about the CD's latest birthday, how we're going to pass on music to our kids, and how newer generations are going to appreciate music.
To celebrate Looking For Alaska's recent release of their new Sing Your Heart Out EP, we're streaming "Holden Caulfield" (yeah, yeah, we know it’s a Salinger reference). Exercising a very different feel than the band's previous progressive material, the track has a pop-rock vibe due to guitarist Calvin Lauber taking over vocal duties. Hear it on their AP.net Profile or in the replies. Be sure to read our review of the EP.
Update: The chat is now over. Thanks to the band for hanging out with us tonight. Buy the new album next week!
The guys from Texas In July will be dropping in to chat with us at 7:30 PM EST. The band will be releasing its self-titled album (the band's second for Equal Vision) next Tuesday and will be heading out on tour next week. Feel free to ask them any questions regarding the new album, the tour, and everything else in between.
