“I have been an obsessive fan of The Cure since I was 13," the show's creator Neil Cross told The Daily Record. “After we had finished shooting the second episode of this special, I phoned the producer and said there is this really obscure Cure track – an extra track on a 12-inch single called 'A Few Hours After This' – which I have always loved and think it would really go."
We really need to get celebrity's caps lock keys fixed. Maybe a Kickstarter is in order? Anyway, The Cure's frontman, Robert Smith, has responded to The Guardian critic Caroline Sullivan via Facebook -- twice.
HAVING EXPOSED THE LIE, WE FIGURED WE WOULD AT THE VERY LEAST GET SOME KIND OF A HANDS IN THE AIR “IT’S A FAIR COP GUV” FROM HER FOR ATTEMPTING SUCH A BANAL SELF SERVING DECEPTION… WE THOUGHT THERE MIGHT EVEN BE A FAINT CHANCE THAT SHE WOULD BE MOVED TO APOLOGISE TO HER READERS FOR MAKING STUFF UP!
We're in a weird predicament in that I've finished singing and mixing an album that was made by a band that no longer exists. I'm not sure it happens that often. This band is trying to make an album with this lineup, and it's an album that I'm tempted to make, that's really different to anything else we've done. So trying to be convinced that I should release the second half of what is an effectively an album that came out in 2008, it's a bit of a sore point, really, to be honest, amongst this current lineup.
