I've been speaking with Will from Cartel a little bit about the Chroma pressing announced earlier today, and he wanted to make sure to pass on the following message.
Enjoy The Ride Records is well within their rights to release this product. Our intentions on Twitter were to let our fans know that this isn't our release that we have talked about for the last few years and that we did not coordinate any aspect of this particular release. That is NOT to say that ETR put out a bad product. From everything we can ascertain, it appears to be of very high quality and would make a great addition to the Cartel vinyl collection.
ETR did contact us regarding their intentions to put this out...
Do you remember Cartel's stint as the "Band in the Bubble" for Dr. Pepper? Producer Kenneth Mount has been reminiscing on Twitter about the experience and soem of the behind the scenes shenanigans. Epic Records does not come off well.
MTV told us to set the drum set up inside the control room where the console and speakers were. #2 learned from MTV experience. The Vice President of epic records at the time didn't know what mastering was and asked me to explain that.
Will Pugh of Cartel recently moved to Dallas, TX and is available for production during the month of July before the band heads off for Australia and Japan. He produced the band's latest album, Collider, as well as Audiostrobelight's latest EP. For more information, email here.
Cartel recently released Collider, and we had a chance to sit down and talk with Will and Joseph a little bit about the past, present, and future of the band. You can check out that interview right here.
Thats it. We put our career in the hands of our fan base. If people want to hear more, they'll buy the record and/or buy a ticket to a show. Beyond that, we have no control. I'd love to continue this as long as possible. Hopefully, a great enough percentage of the folks who have bought our records in the past will do so again and we'll continue on. I don't think we've said everything we have to say or written the songs that would allow us to walk away with no letdown.
Just wanted to remind everyone that Cartel be chatting here on the website on Monday, January 28th at 7pm EST and we'll be debuting a brand new song ... so, make sure to mark those calendars and come hang out with the band as you get your first taste of Collider.
On a recent episode of The Gunz Show, Will Pugh revealed some details regarding Cartel’s next album. The band has plans to finish recording by the end of November and will have the album mixed by Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount. Listen to the interview here.
Cartel have announced that they will be playing at Swazye's in Marietta, GA on September 29th. The 250-cap venue is where the band played their first show in 2003, and the show is in celebration of the venue's 10 year anniversary. Tickets are on sale here.
