Disc one is more consistent, but disc two probably has more of my favorite songs.

I really like "Czarina" from that era.

"Glynis" is one of my favorite SP tracks.

Most of Pisces is awesome. My...

Hey, "Lily" is awesome--sometimes I pull out Mellon Collie just to play it and "We Only Come Out at Night." Probably the funniest song in the SP library, too--unless you count unintentional comedy,...

Had a wonderful time in Moline, IL last night.

I thought about doing an introductory Cave mix, actually. Certainly an overlooked guy around here.

George's mix:

I really like early, all-in-one-take rock and blues music. Almost all of it is imperfect--stumbling and swinging, you know, and that's a huge plus to my ears. The limitations of two...

I'd take Siamese without pause, great as Mellon Collie is.

Thanks for listening, man. "Sign on the Window" is probably my single favorite track from that era, so I'm really glad you're so into it.

Christian's Mix:

Interesting theme. I've never really sought Mayer's stuff out, but have often found that it transcended my admittedly superficial expectations of it whenever it came my way by...

Brad's mix:

I really liked this. It has a very laid-back, easy-going breeziness to it but is also pretty soulful and earnest. You kind of lost me in the middle, but the last three songs were killer,...

Thanks, man. For clarity, though, this isn't my version of a "greatest hits" of the period; this playlist is meant to reflect the title--easygoing, fun, maybe a little restless, but basically just...

Thanks for the thoughtful response, George.

That version is actually incredibly rare. It was a single that was only released on CD overseas on a comp called Masterpieces, which was remastered in...

Drive-By Truckers are phenomenal. And their catalog is very deep, so you'll have a lot to chew on there.

Bonnie 'Prince' Billy (aka Will Oldham and a billion other stage names) is another guy to...

Very good albums all.

As far as Miles goes, In a Silent Way is usually my recommended starting point. It's the most instantly accessible record he ever made--a true bridge between the jazz world and...

The self-titled is far and away his best record. The others have moments of brilliance, but he was never that consistent again. I'd get that and the Great Days comp. Or if comps aren't your thing,...

Agreed. It almost feels more like a proper Pumpkins album than a B-sides collection to me. I don't get that same feeling from any other "rarities" album, even though I own a handful that cut for cut...

Franks loses a lot of points for how bad the production is. It's still a good album, and some of his best songs are on there, but the majority of it really suffers from being presented...

"Am I Safe" is probably my favorite so far.

As a side note, it's generally inappropriate to disassociate Tom's lyrics from his delivery, because there aren't a lot of moments in music history more genuinely deserving of "jesus fucking christ"...
