Great review. This album is narrowly ahead of Run The Jewels for my rap AOTY. I just can't stop listening to Side B. The beats for "Smokin & Drinkin" and "Handstand" are out of this world.

Best album I've heard in years, certainly the most harrowing & honest.

To me, it's all about his flow.. It's very predictable and it stays the same throughout most of the songs.. The hook before the chorus on 'Dip' is almost identical to the one on 'Kush Coma'.. He hardly switches it up. I do enjoy Old, as I like Danny Brown, and feel like this is his best release. But his vocal patterns are pretty simplistic and not as sophisticated as other rappers.
I couldn't even tell if it was Danny or a feature on at least 3-4 songs the first few times I listened. That is the opposite of predictable.

I can see how you would come to that conclusion. Some of his vocal patterns and rhyme schemes are the same, but his word play usually makes up for the couple parts that lack.

I agree with this. There was a video interview I saw today with Danny that Fuse did where Danny said that, beat-wise, the album is kind of like a timeline of rap music which I definitely see and it makes me appreciate the album a lot more.

Wow, I see that too. That's very impressive.
