Denver, CO's Speakeasy Tiger will definitely make waves in the very near future. How high they ascend though remains to be seen. What is certain though is the talent. The conviction, power and strength this Mile High quintent conveys is certainly noteworthy and worth paying attention to. The two tracks on their Myspace are proof of this. "Awake" is a peppy, pleading rocker with solid vocals, a dense rhythm section and cohesive guitars that's prime for stadiums and airwaves. Similarly, the driving "Limbs," pushes ahead with urgency, passion and pain, and has a catchy chorus to boot.
When vocalist Kyle Simmons sings about physical pain, squelching the line "I can feel it in my chest, " it sounds honest, believable and genuine. Conveying torture and pain is a common theme in music but it sounds completely legit here. That simple aspect makes this music reliable and worth the listen. Utilizing synths, keytar and piano the two songs are layered, organic and top-notch. While Kyle sings songs with authenticity, her bandmates execute with precision and a solid command that belies their years. Speakeasy Tiger are certainly on their way to something substantial here. Their debut album The Public drops July 1. Look for them on tour this summer. For more details, hit up their Myspace.
