This is one of the best albums of the last decade-- head and shoulders above anything else from '08.
Definitely top three from last year. I listen to Appeal to Reason by Rise Against, even though it's their weakest, more in 09 though. Have we got a Flaming Lips review coming soon? That album is a winner.

This is one of the best albums of the last decade-- head and shoulders above anything else from '08.
So so true. I listen at least seven years intens to music, and I must say that nothing could top this release. They became my favorite band and I really never ever get tired from this album. They put on an amazing live-show too, I love them so much!

It may just be the album cover's tonal similarity's with Bruce Springsteen's The River, but the songs on "The '59 Sound" seem as if they could easily have come from the climate of sometime in the 70's or 80's-- it takes a certain talent for that kind of retrospective atmosphere on one's second album, and from 2008, no less.
