AltPress Is Not Shutting Down

Posted by: Tony Pascarella (10/23/06)
One of our users brought this letter to my attention and I contacted the magazine about it a few weeks back. Alternative Press is NOT shutting down, and any letter you receive saying so is a fraud. Go here to see the letter and an explanation from AltPress on the matter.

Whether you like the magazine or not, I think that's a pretty crappy (and illegal) thing to do.

that's fucked up. kinda funny though cause just last night someone phoned me saying they were from my bank and were offering me a new higher interest account. i would have been over the moon had i any money. i told them i would still like the higher interest account and then they go, "ok, we will just need to confirm your bank details, can you tell me your account number and sort code?". when i asked why they would need my account details rather than just ask me my pin number and secret question like normal they hung up. scumbags

I did some research on the net about that company. Alot of magazines have fallen target to their scams. They also keep changing their address from state to state. Seems like they are looking for a way to rip people off of $50, and never even intend on delivering them a magazine subscription.

its odd, i contacted that company about my subscription and they said they 'weren't handling the Alternative Press account' and were going to send me a reimbursement check for 24.99....why the fuck would it be 24.99 when i renewed my subscription for 2 years at 20 bucks?

If AltPress took out Spin, well... that would be good news for AltPress. haha. The whole thing may work out greatly in their favor.
