Well because they were virtually unknown when Angels on the Moon came out and blew up. They were college buddies who started a band...and I don't really know how Angels went national, but when I first heard it a few years back, I immediately checked out their myspace and they had like 30,000 page views....which is NOTHING. Pretty much no one knew who they were and they got huge immediately.
They deserve it tho...and I'm glad they aren't a one hit wonder like I half worried they would be. This new stuff is even better than their old.
It took a while for them to get signed.
It was very similar to many unsigned band stories. Release a solid independent album, get signed a year later, re-release album on a label, get a hit out of it.
They were headlining & selling out local shows here in the Bay Area for a few years before that record deal.
Nothing too out of the ordinary.
