Not my favorite review of yours. it was just lacking some Rythm in the writing, or some crazy punch lines as you usually do. Nontheless, that album is great.
yeah, i think i could agree with both of those critiques in terms of what i "usually" do. But I guess this just hit me in a different way. So that style didn't really feel fitting. But thanks for reading now and in the past, means a lot.
I was really disappointed with the lyrical aspect of this album. Not that pop punk is known for its lyrical depth, but I found this almost difficult to get all the way through.
All other aspects of the album are fantastic though, so I may give it a few more spins and see if it grows on me at all.
idk, i find the vocals to be vastly improved. some times get tired of hearing whiny lines get delivered by whiny guys. So it's nice to have some force behind the words.
it's like what i wish A Loss for Words could be.
Love the review Blake and this record is straight gold on first listen in my opinion but can't be down with your AL4W's take. That band is perfect just the way they are as long as they don't do any more cover albums or cover's period... Their new record that's gonna be recorded this new summer is my most anticipated of this year along side The Swellers...
I'm not as into this as Make Your Mark. But I think that will be a good thing. I'm not into most Arcade Fire or Jimmy Eat World albums at first, but after time they are my favorites. I completely agree with Blake's words and how this band and this album is good late night "what the fuck am I doing?" life music.
I think this could have been really great, but falls into some unfortunate cliches throughout the record. They're two steps from amping it up and really getting away from the pack. "In Your Light" is good but the chorus is terrible. Keep your foot on the gas. I can't stand that layered vocal slow-down chorus.
I disagree completely, the chorus of the song is what brought me back to it so many times. No need to keep up the insane punk beat for the entire song, it would just make it boring.
Idk, this album is just very good. And it clearly left some sort of emotional mark on me. Do with this whatever you want and sorry if you hate it. It helped me feel better to write it.
Well put and very good call with Lifetime. Heard it immediately in parts of the vocals and how the notes flowed together. I think some are being just slightly harsh on it. It seems like nothing more than a feel good record, and I don't think it's trying to go beyond that. In accomplishing that, it's very well done.
