I went out and blindly bought season 1, never having seen an episode. I plowed through that entire season in one sitting about a week ago, holy shit was I blown away. Then I watched all of season 2 over the past couple of evenings.

I am probably in the minority saying that I prefer season 1, mainly because we still aren't exactly sure what's going on with Brody, season 2 solidifies Brody's place, except for the finale.

I really have no idea what to expect for season 3, I have a feeling Brody will be in the middle east somewhere, trying to either figure things out from the inside, or reveal that he was actually part of a bigger plan of getting Nazir caught, seemingly to throw off the CIA.

There are probably holes in that theory, but I really have no idea how the showrunners say that they MIGHT include Brody and his family in season 3, how would the family be included if Brody wasn't?

Also, Quinn's entire situation was probably one of the best things of this season. I really hope they continue with that.

Why does everyone hate the opening credits? I love it.
The horrible CGI of Brody in the gardens gets on my nerves every time.

I think I'm going to revisit the first two seasons of this before the premier.

Love this damn show.

I don't get people complaining about season 2, I've heard it before.

The best thing about this show, to me is that we still don't exactly know what Brody is really up to.

I get it, the people who weren't fans of S2 are the ones who get all butt hurt anytime something occurs than isn't realistic.
What happened in season 2 that wasn't realistic? I remember season 1 way more than 2. I haven't watched the series since January, so I need to watch.

Yeah i'm a little rusty too but Brody face timing with Abu Nazir while in a high political office was a little ridiculous.
Was the whole pacemaker with the VP part of season 2? I forgot about that...I would call that a little "iffy" in terms of actually happening. Now that I'm typing this I remember it was during season 2 because Brody was going for governor, or mayor or something like that, so he had a reason to be in the White House.

The one thing that makes this show above and beyond the rest is that you're always guessing what's happening. I don't know of any other show which hides the lead characters true motives like this. I don't think Brody is a good guy what so ever, I'm certain he is a terrorist, just putting on a very good front.

The scene with the car exploding at the VP's memorial and Carrie unsure what to believe from Brody while having him at gunpoint was fantastic. And yeah i just hope the "iffyness" doesn't continue to progress in season 3.
And the fact that Brody hardly ever gives definitive yes or no answers when asked something is just great.

I'm probably in the minority, but the first 2 seasons of Homeland was better than the first 2 seasons of Breaking Bad.

Homeland is just on a much larger scale, and when bad things happen, some really bad things happen. Breaking Bad is just in ABQ and on really revolving around ~10 people.

Then again the acting is so top notch on Breaking Bad...there are pros and cons to each show, but I give Homeland the edge.

Like as an overall show? Noooo way!
There is so much more at risk in Homeland, so that's one of the reasons I give it the edge.

Sure but I just want to watch a great story unfold, I don't care at what scale that is. As long as it is consistent and creative. Homeland needs to pump out a few more seasons of quality TV writing to really be compared to a series that is about to end at it's peak. Showtime always runs it's shows into the ground too which scares me.
I'm not too familiar with all of the Showtime shows, but isn't Homeland the most successful?

Either way, this season has to be at least on par with season 2, or else I don't see the show getting any better.

Yeah it's gained a ton more steam then Weeds or Dexter ever did which terrifies me they will give Homeland 3 seasons too many.
I forgot Dexter was on Showtime.

We'll see what happens!

People didn't like the second season? My only complaint was that all the mystique surrounding Brody was gone, other than that, it was fucking awesome.

Am I in the minority saying that giving Carrie bi-polar disorder doesn't help the show at all? There was really no need to have Carrie fired from the CIA, especially considering how immediately in the second season she was right back in the mix of things, although not officially.

Brodys mystique definitely isnt gone. Especially with how the season ended.
With the exception of the last couple episodes in season 1, we didn't know what the fuck was going on with Brody. The whole suicide vest and video he made was a big "holy shit" moment...only topped by when Saul put the SD card in his computer in season 2.

The end of season 2 was good, it did bring back some of the questions regarding Brody's true motives, but nothing can compare to the first 10 episodes of the series.

I also believe Saul is possibly dirty, just sayin.

I just got done with the first season and halfway through the second, there are a couple of things that really do stick out:

-Saul was in the room with two known terrorists who just so happened to kill themselves in his absence.
-The first lie detector test about the first terrorist killing himself...he failed, then passed the following day.
-He drove Carrie out of the area when she knew Brody was up to something during the suicide bombing attempt.
-Pretty much every instance where someone was "tipped off", we never found out who, but Saul is always off doing things, so who knows.
