These guys were on a super low budget, not to mention the lead singer graduates High School next month.
Overall, I feel the dudes put out a solid first release.
Lyrically it aint "The Menzingers" but when your 17 years old, you ain't got shit in life to write about anyways.
I honestly cant thank you all enough for giving it a spin.
Like it says in the song.. "Youth and Defeat Dont Go Hand In Hand"
"One step forward but six steps back, we're not headed anywhere yet but at least it's progress."
“There’s very little editing done to the drums,” he continues. “Every hit you hear is real, and most people will be able to tell. There is no form of pitch correction on the vocals.”
Well maybe you should have sprung for drum editing and pitch correction. Wouldn't be so bad if you did.
cwhit, you know they DONT get money from mommy and daddy and gotta pay their dues like everyone else.
I could buy the corrections you mentioned but.... how punx would that be ?
The dudes play the song live almost the same as the record, so if you like the tunes, its what you get live.
First Time they tried Youth & Defeat LIVE..
if you dont like it nothing will change that.
I still love you though.
Okay, but there are also kids out there working real hard and properly producing their stuff and whatever. You just made a shit load of sweeping generalizations in your post.
Although you may think the end result of this EP is lacking, please don't think any less effort went into it.
They worked really hard and learned alot from doing this. All good lessons for the next record.
Definitely can't knock them for lack of work; I know they put work into this. While it may not be fully reflected in the EP there's no doubt in my mind nothing will hold Brandon and his band back. I'll definitely keep checking out releases as they come.
Didn't like it upon first listen. Listening to again though.
Just about done my second listen. It's decent. I think it's just generic pop punk, but I can see you guys going places. I'm sure you'll get better as your sound matures and you all get older. For what it's worth, this is a decent EP.
Who knows, maybe you'll get to tour with TWY sometime.
ha ha..... for now they settle on opening a local show and are thankful when 3 kids show early :)
This will be cool .. and the first proper show after the release.
