Alt-rock icon Morrissey will take his case against UK magazine NME to court this July. The Smiths frontman has had an ongoing legal battle with NME over a 2007 interview with the singer/songwriter. Morrissey claims that the interview was doctored to hurt his image and make him appear racist.
NME offered to release a formal apology, but Morrissey has gone forward with libel charges, saying that an apology would be “disproportionate to the damage done to Morrissey by the NME magazine itself.” The case will be seen at London’s High Court from July 16 to 19. Nevertheless, Morrissey still intends to perform in Athens and Istanbul on July 16 and 19 respectively. [P4K]
Basically is Moz a big racist or not?
Be interesting to see if he wins. I always assumed he was a bit of a racist.
So what your saying is... NME doesn't appreciate The Smiths, or Morrissey?
Reference aside, they still love The Smiths. They just started slagging him after Madstock, which was definitely not Moz's finest moment, but not as bad as it's made out to be.
