When he hits that falsetto and stresses the vibratto on the more mid range notes, I get a My Favorite Highway sound from this dude which isn't a bad thing at all. Only time will tell how he sounds when he really opens up for those high notes.
I'm still excited, since the new singer seems to be pretty good... But I do agree. They should drop the name. Isn't this the same thing people were giving Woe, Is Me shit about? Just a couple members from the original band shouldn't really carry on the name. Heck, even make a new name that relates to STC, but don't go reusing the name.
I think it was smart they kept the old name, because it means they can still play all the old songs live.
I'd rather them have a new singer, than no Search the City at all. I mean look at Saosin, Underoath, Further Seems Forever, they've all had new singers and in every case I liked the new vocalists better. I like what I'm hearing so far and I can't wait for the new demo from these guys.
i also agree with the name change. not trying to deny the fact that the new guy has a good voice, but to me, search the city will never be the same band. If i ever see them play, i wouldn't even want to see them play their old songs. Definitely gonna give the new material a shot though.
I am bummed that Josh isn't returning, but judging from the few live acoustic videos I've watched from this new guy, it seems like they have pretty similar voices. Excited for both this and whatever Josh decides to do next...maybe more Evil Us?
