Another interview has hit the web from Brand New's Canadian tour. This time Jesse sat down for almost an hour and went into a lot of lengthy questions. Definitely a great read.
I love this band but that interviewer seems like they put Jesse Lacey on a godlike pedestal and it's a little weird.
I noticed that as well, yet he still had the balls to say outright that Daisy had no flow. But they're his favorite band. I'd act creepy around Mark Hoppus, I'm sure.
It’s funny…I joked a while ago that Brand New was going to make happy music. I mean I said it on stage one night and everyone ran with it. I don’t think we’re going to write happy music though. We do sad bastard quite well (laughs). But we want our music to answer questions and the thing is that sometimes those questions are sad ones. We want to make new music with new answers but sometimes the questions are still sad ones and sometimes that is just a reality. Life is about accepting the hard parts like loss, and succeeding in society.
Glad he admitted it's easier to just do whatever you want. I hate when bands release experimental albums and people stack it against "normal" albums (claiming that the experimental stuff takes more skill). Writing a more structured song/album always seemed harder than just doing something completely random. Idk, good interview and I still listen to Daisy occasionally.
