ABSOLUTExclusive: Storm The Beaches

Posted by: Christian Wagner (09/10/12)
Storm The Beaches, from Baltimore, MD, is releasing the group's debut full-length Hemisphere on October 23rd on Apparition Records. The pop-rock act has written some of the band's best material to date on the new record, and it's evident with the track "Full Circle" which we are streaming today. Reminds me at times of site favorites Cartel and The Morning Of. Check it out on the band's AP.net profile or in the replies. You can pre-order the record here.

Full Circle

LyricsHere's the story about the boy who turned his life to stone.
No goals
Just a band and some rock ‘n' roll
His art was the only thing that kept him afloat

Ruled by the drugs that helped him concentrate
Fooled by the faces that smiled his way
He exclaimed, “There’s no time to gloat
People don't you get it?
We’re all in the same boat”

We fell from Grace and Grace was all we had to keep us from our fate
So if you've found the thing you love, just do it before it becomes too late

Here's the story about the boy who turned his life to gold
His goals were his band and his rock ‘n' roll
His story was one that needed to be told

His art was the only thing that kept him afloat
Ruled by the drugs that made him feel remote
Teachers told him off
Preachers told him “No!”
It's crazy ‘cause were all in the same boat

We fell from Grace and Grace was all we had to keep us from our fate
So if you've found the thing you love, just do it before it becomes too late

We fell from Grace and Grace was all we had to keep us from our fate
So if you've found the thing you love…
Just do it before it becomes too late
Too late
It's not too late
It's not too late
Too late, too late

We fell from Grace and Grace was all we had to keep us from our fate
So if you've found the thing you love, just do it before it becomes too late

We fell from Grace and Grace was all we had to keep us from our fate
So if you've found the thing you love, just do it before it becomes too late

Band StatementSpeaking about the second single, vocalist Mark Mikina says; “I wrote the song as a personal anthem for living life to the fullest. The lyrics are the story of a boy (me) whose family, teachers, and friends were questioning and doubting what I was doing with my life. I knew from a young age that I was going to take my chances at my dreams and I also knew that the people doubting me never did; they just played it safe, and I always rebutted; “Can’t you see that we are all in the same boat? We’re all floating in this river of life and unless you do something to steer it, it will always steer you. You have to find something that you love because no matter how much money you are making, if you’re not happy, you have failed miserably. Find something that makes you happy and no matter what else, you have won. A few people who have heard the song have misinterpreted it as a religious song. The chorus ‘We fell from Grace and Grace was all we had to keep us from our fate’ is about the church I went to as a boy, Grace Fellowship Church. Through my religious upbringing, I realized that what people told me was ‘best’ or ‘right’ for me may not be the path for me to feel fulfilled. The people I was told to look up to were literally forcing me to run away from the very things that made me the happiest and feeling fulfilled; my art and my band. The last line of the chorus is ‘So if you’ve found the thing you love, just do it before it becomes too late’ and really, what that means is that if you’re lucky enough to have found something that makes you happy and makes you feel fulfilled… do it.

The song itself is well-written and catchy, very Cartel-esque. Not a huge fan of the vocals.

I saw this band play like six years ago when they were called The Autumn Sun in a small coffee shop. I remember thinking they were really good and had huge potential. Not a huge fan but it's cool to see how far they have come.

With all the years that I have been following this band, I can say that their sound definitely gets stronger with each album. This song is fantastic, as was the first single from their full length, and I am stoked for when the album drops.
