So a couple of years ago I started listening to vinyl. As of right now I am using a cheapo Sony stereo system that was a $300 full in a box system. I wanted suggestions as to what I should look into stereo equipment wise for playing vinyl.

a lot of people will recommend tech-12s as the go-to player but I honestly think that there's much better sounding record players available in terms of sound quality.

I was doing some browsing on turntables and I kept seeing good reviews on the Pro-ject Debut III Turntabl. It's German made, supposedly very good entry level audiophile player. $349 U.S

anything on this listing would be considered very good to the best money can buy.

http://app.audiogon.com/listings?pag...er_category_id[]=36&min_condition=1&max_condition=1 1&listing_types_auctions=1&listing_ types_classifieds=1

also I want to add that you have think of it as a SYSTEM like a guitar setup. Your turntable can only sound as good as your preamp, speakers and cables, just as your guitar can only sound as good as your amp and patch chord.

but ya if you read a bunch of reviews the Pro-Ject Debut III, Rega RP1, and the Music Hall MMF are considered excellent entry level audiophile turntables. The sound quality can get a bit better with a bit more money but after that it comes down to aesthetics and art. You're paying for gold plated this, hand sanded that, laser precision, zero vibration/noise yadayada.... it's a rich-mans world but for punk rock records those three brand mentioned will sound great.

Yeah, I already have a vinyl player. I was more interested in finding some good speakers to buy and maybe a new amp. I know, or at least I've heard, that really good speakers are really expensive. I don't need the best of the best but I do want something better then what I have right now. I just bought a Sony home theatre system which I used for movies and TV. Vinyl wasn't even on my mind at that time. So, as of right now, I used the same system for movies/TV, video games and music. So, that's what I wanted suggestions on.
