In an interview with Revolver magazine, Jeremy said this about Common Courtesy:
"I think this record is gonna show what this band is capable of. I feel like, honestly, we’ve figured it out – how to write really, really heavy parts."
"We haven’t really had a huge metal influence since For Those Who Have Heart. I understand growing up listening to heavy music, a lot of bands when they get popular, they tend to drop the whole heavier portion of their music. It’s almost like the people who like that music are just waiting to pounce on you the second you do it. We’re gonna have more heavier songs than on the past two records together."
They're gonna have more heavier songs than the past two records together. I nearly creamed my pants when I read that.
I think this song is amazing. Really well constructed heavy parts, melodic pre-chorus, the actual chorus has really blown my mind. And the riff that goes along the breakdown parts after 3min is simply awesome.
Still on of my favorite bands no matter what. Glad I have something to boast about now! I was a little surprised with WSYFM, but I didn't hate it. I absolutely love this. It's nothing revolutionary, but it's ADTR and that is what makes a song like this special.
