there is no reason these two bands should be playing venues this large.
Why not? Both are still gigantic and have a huge fan base. This tour will sell at least 90% at every venue.

Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Matchbox 20 might still sell, but Goo Goo Dolls are far from being huge.
Goo Goo Dolls play amphitheaters every summer and sell out a lot of dates. This is an amphitheater and small arena tour. I think they would be ok if they were by themselves.

The Goo Goo Dolls did a club tour last spring and it barely sold out in most markets. I'm not saying either band is bad (I enjoy both) but I've worked in the ticket industry for the last decade and can pretty confidently say that if this tour is priced the way I think it will be priced (ie: too high), I don't see these shows selling out across the board.

I could be wrong. I've been wrong before, but something a little smaller might be more comfortable.

Then again, MB20 had that big radio hit last year that was catchy, so who the fuck knows. Audiences for 90's bands are always unpredictable.
Tickets aren't that bad. Orchestra tickets for the venue by me (PNC Bank Arts Center) are 60, mid level is 40 and lawn is around 20. Now, compare that with Victoria Justice who's most expensive ticket is around 120 dollars and this tour is priced just right. Matchbox Twenty did a good sized room about 20 minutes from me 2 weeks ago. Most expensive ticket was 95 dollars. They sold out back to back dates. I mean both bands are still very popular in the adult contemporary genre. This will be a successful tour..I can pretty much guarantee that.

They were playing college shows around here and getting a so-so response. That's still not huge, it's okay for a living. But they're not big anymore.
In the Adult Contemporary world, they're still a big band. Obviously, this should be a Matchbox Twenty headlining tour. They're miles bigger than GGD. The Dolls still have a great fan base that still supports them. It's the same thing with OAR. They haven't had a hit in God only knows how many years but every summer they still play giant venues.

at 60/40/20, they'll be fine. My original statement was based on the assumption that top price tier tickets would be 100+, which it seems every major artist thinks they can charge these days.
No I understand completely. I'm sure they'll have their "VIP Packages" going for several hundred dollars but if you can live without being in the first 15 rows, then 60 dollars is quite alright. I just don't understand how top tier artists can still get away with 100 dollar tickets. Even Bieber can sell them! Groups like 1D, I can understand. If you're past your prime, make the tickets affordable.

Where do you see PNC prices posted? I'm looking at either going to the PNC or Wantagh date.

I got an email from my job saying tickets are 69, 49 and 23.50 to be exact. I think those prices might be before surcharges. I think tomorrow the LN website will include the show. Maybe I'm totally wrong but my source is pretty good.

Ahh got it - thanks! I thought I was going crazy when I couldn't find it yesterday. Guessing the 49 ones will be lodge and 23.50 lawn. So cheap, in my opinion.
Very cheap. Then again, it's not Motley Crue and Kiss last year when the lawn was like 40 something dollars lol.

That's strange. I think most of the dates go on sale tomorrow. I guess PNC is next week or even Saturday.
