Cassette here and I can't remember. Probably something by Kris Kross.

CD: Limp Bizkit's "Three Dollar Bill, Yall$" don't judge -- I was like 12. I didn't start listening to any music that belongs here until I was around 16. That's when I discovered bands like Yellowcard, Fall Out Boy, and Blink 182 (well I knew them from TRL in the late 90s).

First CD?

Pshhhhaaa. You mean first TAPE.

And it was Prince's "Batman Soundtrack" ... followed up soon after by Michael Jackson's "Bad."

First CD was Nirvana's "Nevermind."

First borrowed CD was Blink's "Dude Ranch" ... that changed everything.

First burned "pirated" and burned CD was The Ataris' "Blue Skies..."

First mp3 every downloaded? Flagpole Sitta by Harvey Danger (followed by some New Found Glory songs).

My first Tape was Bon Jovi back in 1989.
My first CD that I bought with my own cash was Dookie from Green Day.

I'm not actually sure what the first CD I bought was. But because I am so sad and old (Ha. Compared to most people here anyway) I know the first proper albums I had (I say 'proper' as I am sure I would have had some of those cheesy kids nursery rhyme crap compilations and things as a kid and they don't really count) were R.E.M's Out of Time and Nirvana's Nevermind on good old tape. Not sure which I got first and they may have even been at the same time but I remember having to pull the bloody things out of my cassette player and wind up the chewed up tape with a pencil.
First CD must have been something similar, Green Day possibly. Maybe a Beatles album. I used to listen to them a lot.

Green Day - Dookie

3rd grade, 1994

4th grade for me. I'm not even sure where I got the cash to get it, but I still have the receipt inside of the case.

I'm pretty sure flagpole sitta was the first MP3 I downloaded as well! I remember being obsessed with that song and just listening to it on repeat, in really bad quality on that old crappy MP3 player on the PC where you could change the skins into numerous, equally horrific designs. I wish I could remember what it was called.
