AFI's Hunter Burgan Writes a Letter To His Former Self

Posted by: Jason Tate (10/30/13)
AFI's Hunter Burgan has written a "letter to his former self."
Your passion for music will lead to many opportunities. You’re smart enough to know which of them to seize. I have no doubt of that. You have a lot of hard work in front of you, but you will enjoy it, and when you become me (I know that’s a weird phrase) you will have plenty to show for your efforts. Follow your heart, be true to yourself and remain curious about the world around you.

Decemberunderground is a fantastic album. Sure, it pushed the boundaries of what fans expected from AFI, but would you guys hate it if it was the debut album from a new band?

In this era of music, lots of albums sound dated rather quickly. They don't often withstand the passing of time. But tracks like "The Missing Frame" "Love Like Winter" "The Interview" and "Summer Shudder" sound as fresh today as they did seven years ago. It's got a great cold-pop sound that really aged gracefully.

DU is awesome
It's better than the new one (which I quite like after about 3 listens)
Nothing will top STS for me though
