This album is fantastic. But seriously...how much does this dude sound like John from The Lonely Forest? Like, it's almost an exact match. If these two bands would go ahead and tour together, they could just trade off bands, and nobody would notice.
I will say that your review is completely off base with regards to “Arithmetic on the Frontier”. That song, while sounds different than the rest of the album, is really quite awesome. It sounds so raw on a good pair of headphones. I'd honestly like to see more in this direction.
If there is a shortcoming on this album it would be that it needs more Gregg Dellarocca vocals. Then again, I could just be pining for more American Gospel....(tall tales vol. 2 anyone?)
I don't dislike Arithmetic, just think it doesn't fit the vibe of the album.
Which vocalist is Gregg Dellarocca an whih is Mason Maggio?
Finally listened to this, and while I miss the brooding nature of Varuna, this album is still absolutely incredible. They continue to impress and maintain their talent. Stray(s) is so catchy, and there are some really golden moments across the record when a huge smile just lit across my face because of how damn good it sounds (e.g. the last minute or so of Pioneers).
