EDM Remix of Yellowcard's "Ocean Avenue"

Posted by: Jason Tate (01/24/14)
Kasum has done an EDM remix of Yellowcard's "Ocean Avenue."
The 2004 single was reinvented into a dubstep creation that partners soaring synths with tasteful growls that add just enough grit to the mix. Big sounds make this one favorable for a set and if you have a crowd that is the right age, then you know they will go off for something like this! Nostalgia and bass music? What a touching experience.

I know I should hate this, but it's actually very well done.

The "chorus" or breakdown I guess of this sounds exactly like his breakdown for his remix of Thanks For The Memories by Fall Out Boy.

This song is more of a straight-up EDM remix rather than a dubstep-centered one. It only has flickerings of that style. EDM has become massive in the mainstream, though the hard style "Skrillex" sound has dropped off quite a bit in lieu of more synth-driven sounds.

I liked it and was surprised that I did.

I know EDM is a huge thing (believe me, I just went to go see Ryan Hemsworth last night, and was weirded out by the EDM kids) but Trap/Hardstyle/House/Big Room is what the kids are into now. Last EDM show I went too, dubstep was almost non-exsistent. I would of expected a dubstep remix to be made like a year or two ago, but not now
