Lee Corey Oswald Signs To No Sleep Records

Posted by: Ryan Gardner (04/14/14)
No Sleep Records has signed Lee Corey Oswald. The band is currently finishing their new album, which is expected out later this year.
“We've always been huge fans of what No Sleep is doing in terms of reinstating originality to the music scene,” adds the band’s Lee Ellis. “Their roster is awesome and we're beyond stoked to work with them on this release. Fans can expect 90’s esque indie punk numbers along the lines of Weezer and Knapsack as well as more stripped down acoustic jams in the vein of what our older stuff sounds like but more focused.”

Press Release:
April 14, 2014 – Los Angeles, CA – Huntington Beach based No Sleep Records is proud to announce that Portland based indie/punk group Lee Corey Oswald to the label’s eclectic roster. The band is currently finishing their new album, which is expected out later this year.

“Portland, the land of vegan food, amazing trails and LCO. When I was sent some songs from their upcoming record I immediately fell in love, and knew that No Sleep needed to be behind these guys,” says No Sleep president Chris Hansen. “Listen for these guys to be in your ears very soon.”

“We've always been huge fans of what No Sleep is doing in terms of reinstating originality to the music scene,” adds the band’s Lee Ellis. “Their roster is awesome and we're beyond stoked to work with them on this release. What do you get when you take a classical music teacher, a philosophy student, a nanny/barber, and a professional poker player and stick them in a house in Northeast Portland. No, its not a house of mid-20’s retirees nor is it a Portlandia Skit. It’s the up-and-coming indie/punk quartet Lee Corey Oswald.

The band got their start in the vibrant and vivacious punk scene of Scranton PA, alongside bands such as Title Fight, Tigers Jaw, and The Menzingers, before relocating to Portland, OR in 2009. Though they inevitably drew influence from the laid back elements of a West Coast lifestyle and the indie/folk scene of Portland, their sound never shook that sense of emotional urgency and intensity that is so familiar with bands out of the Northeast.

After releasing a split with Scranton/Philly’s Three Man Cannon in the winter of 2012 the band toured the U.S., sharing the stage with The Lawrence Arms, Titus Andronicus, Title Fight, The Menzingers, La Dispute, Pianos Become the Teeth, Broadway Calls, Touche Amore and The Sidekicks among others.

Lee Corey Oswald is now readying the release of their biggest effort yet, which is due out on No Sleep Records. Follow the band now at https://www.facebook.com/LeeCoreyOswald for additional news and updates.

I got confused when you said "The band signed" after saying "Lee Corey Oswald". As a person who hasn't heard the band before, I thought it was someone's name.

But I like what I'm hearing of what they've already released
