Posted by: Jake Denning (06/08/14)
Well, looks like August Burns Red is hard at work writing a new record. This is good news.

Love this band's work ethic. Consistently strong output too, though Messengers remains my favourite.

As much as I love Messengers, Thrill Seeker was always my favorite album from ABR...until Rescue and Restore. I honestly think that is their finest work to date.

The only album that fell short for me was Leveler - solely because of Internal Cannon; the start of that song is ferocious, but then they got into experimentation with mariachi-esque rhythms and crap on that really came off as super cheesy and really, ruined the vibe of the album for me - which is sad because their are some pretty standout tracks on that album: Pangea, Boys of Fall ,and Leveler.

As long as their musicianship remains A+, these dudes will crown the genre. Some songs are kinda dull, some songs sound a bit forced... but the actual music itself, is always stellar!
So many quality jams throughout their discography! The only album that I don't spin from front to back is Leveler, and yet its littered with talent and I loved their experimentation, it just doesn't quite work out overall as a cohesive album. Im kinda surprised they're already in studio to follow up R&R, excited to see what they come up with! \m/

Thrill Seeker, for some odd reason is the only album I don't like from them. Maybe because Jake wasn't in the band then.

Constellations remains my favorite but R&R is right up there too.
