Maybe we'll get to hear a new song in the coming weeks!
Fuck...I sure hope so. I really want this to top 59 Sound but that record is so damn good I'm not sure if even these boys can.

Going to be working on some things this week to bring some potential stuff, in regards to the new album, to the site for everyone. Pitched an offer for an exclusive, interview, early review, band commentary -- anything, basically, that we can get to get some excitement stirring.

Believe me -- I'm going to be pushing for this. I will be sure to keep everyone up-to-date on any cool possibilities.
Yes, yes, yes. Cannot fucking WAIT for AS to drop...

If this shouldn't be posted, I'll delete it.

Nah, I just saw that on one of the gaslight forums I visit once in awhile
Okay thanks man. And I wouldn't recommend leaving that link there. Not sure what the AP policiy is though...I PM'd it to the guy who asked. People can google it and find it pretty quickly.

i like the stopstart of bring it on. i'm really really excited about this
It's a cool song...but did anyone else notice it has the same annoyingly slow drumbeat as "American Slang"? Still, super-stoked for this to drop....in two months.

By the way, thanks for telling me to go listen to Ryan Adams' Gold the other day. I actually bought it on vinyl yesterday, and it is quickly becoming one of my favorite albums. Good shit, dude.

after a dozen listens, i'm still not super impressed...neither song released has caught me like the first couple tracks off of 59S...still hopeful though. i do love his vocals...they sound great.

glad i could help you find something you like. 90% sure you've heard of wilco's "yankee hotel foxtrot," but if you haven't, please check that out. you'll love it as well.
Yeah...I agree with that. I think the album should still be good though. We'll see. I feel like a need a full album to really judge.

Haha...yeah that's already one of my all-time favorite albums. Thanks though. Being There is great as well.

I have seen some labels (FBR, for example) protect highly-sought after albums (Swellers) that were recorded long before their release, and didn't manage to leak until a week beforehand.

Then again, we've seen Against Me, Coheed & Cambria, Deftones and Thrice all leak months in the advance this past year.

So, yeah haha
No way was Ups & Downsizing anywhere near as anticipated as American Slang.
Columbia's protection of My Dinosaur Life, however, was quite impressive.

It really is. It's easily my favorite song on the new record, although I do actually love it all, aside from We Did It When We Were Young.
Seriously, what's up with the hate for this song? Personally I like it a whole lot...I think it's a great closer for the album. Sure it's not "The Backseat," but "American Slang" is no "The 59 Sound." I think it works. I think everything on this record works except the first five seconds of "Boxer" and that boring-as-fuck slow drumbeat that pops up on the title track and some other places. And I've even kind of come to terms with that.

It's not that I hate the song, it just doesn't fully live up to my expectations in comparison to all of their other album closers. They usually end so strong, be it "Red At Night," "Blue Jeans," or "The Backseat." It's still a good song, it's just one that I don't love. And ya, I still don't know what I think about the beginning of "Boxer," but other than the beginning the rest of the song is great.
Alright. I gotcha. Personally, I still think it's a good closer. Sure they have better...but you can't have it all. I might like it better than "Red at Night" though, just because that song is so close to the one I have posted below, which I have known for much longer.

Oh, don't get me wrong."Boxer" is probably my favorite song on the album.

I still like new album, but the majority of the guitar parts some exact the same.
I noticed this too. I do like the general guitar style though.
