Would you downgrade to dial-up to save money? If not, what other technological expenditures would you cut first before your broadband internet?

Skype
on the iPhone allows VoIP calling over AT&T's 3G network...on the beta version of the iPhone 3.0. Suddenly the contract-free iPhone starts to make more sense.

Android phones can now be used as modems again...outside of the U.S.

Internet-related

Reports out of Britain indicate that China could take down their networks with China's new BT network. This seems like one of those things that shouldn't be publicly advertised.

Playing with molotov coctails, posting videos to YouTube and including your real names in the video is just plain stupid.

An angry mob fought back against the Google street car. Privacy prevails!

Good news! Taking mental breaks by surfing the internet at work can actually help productivity.

Finally a good use for Twitter--Baker Tweet allows bakeries to inform people when goods are fresh out of the oven.

Microsoft has taken the stance that the broadband stimulus should be used to help schools and hospitals.

R.I.P. Microsoft Encarta.

Microsoft and MySpace try to remain relevant by partnering together.

While the Conficker worm did not end the world on April 1, it did update and consequently is still putting computers at risk.

A working pillow keyboard is probably the coolest invention out of Russia in a while.

Engineers are working on a way to incorporate braille into touchscreen devices.

Researchers are investigating the sensation of people who have lost a limb but still feel sensations where that limb once was.

Microsoft may use $11 million of its stimulus money (and $17.5 million of its own money) to build a bridge connecting its two campuses. As dumb as it may sound, the thought processes behind it are actually not bad.

Are computers, video games, and crayons deforming children's hands?

Rock Band DLC this week includes six Toby Keith tracks as well as Black Tide, Bullet for my Valentine, and Shins. Guitar Hero: World Tour has three new tracks from the Silversun Pickups this week.

I might be cheating on Diet Coke with Cherry Pepsi this summer if rumors of a Rock Band DLC promotion are real.

Nickelodeon children voted Guitar Hero: World Tour as the game of the year over Rock Band 2. I'm blaming the delayed release for the Wii and the fact that children like cartoons.

Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood looks like a Western game that might be worth playing (not that Red Dead Revolver wasn't).

It's official: people really like killing Nazi zombies. The World at War map sold over one million virtual copies during the first weekend.

The Silent Hill remake for the Wii is official.

Left 4 Dead with 12 survivors is kinda cheating.

A camera capable of shooting 8MP on a phone is absolutely pointless. There is no light sensor small enough to fit in a cell phone that will properly handle that many pixels.

3MP is absolutely efficient for a phone.

If you're buying a camera that has any more than 6MP you're probably paying extra for something that may actually be giving you lower quality photos.

Please do some research before buying a camera and don't fall into the megapixel trap.

I agree with you to a point, but my Nokia N95 8GB takes pretty impressive pictures. Granted, it's quite a bit thicker than most phones on the market, but I compared pictures with my girlfriend's old 5 megapixel camera and mine were superior.

EDIT: I forgot to mention (though you sound knowledgeable and probably know anyway) that my phone also has Carl Zeiss optics so it's not just some crappy Nokia equipment. Oh, and isn't it nice that cameras seem to be leveling off on the increasing megapixels?
