Carrie Underwood took the top place on this week's charts, selling over 270,000 copies of Blown Away. Norah Jones was in second and...yes...NOW 42 was third. Adele had her weakest sales week of 21 in a long while, finishing fourth with just over 77,000 units moved and B.o.B. debuted at fifth with 74,000. Jack White added another 62,000 to his total while finishing 7th, while fun. added another 11,000 to its ongoing strong sales performance. The Avengers soundtrack sold 26,000 copies.

I know that feeling really well, of feeling like a band who’s my little secret and then having them sort of get taken away from me in a way. I understand that feeling, but I would hope that our fans who have been around for a while are still happy for us and still like the music we’re writing. We’re making the same songs and doing the same things with the integrity we’ve always had.

I personally didn’t, because when I was 20 and thought that I had a song that could have been big and didn’t, I just began to wonder how a hit song actually works, and figured that it could never work for me. Writing “We Are Young,” it was like “Okay, this is catchy,” but I couldn’t imagine it taking off in such a massive way. Even the day after Jeff and I had recorded it and sent it to everybody and the head of our label, he freaked out over it, and I thought it was cool, but had no idea.

Fun. becomes the first rock band in more than a decade to send a debut Billboard Hot 100 hit to number one.

With its coronation, fun. becomes the first multi-member rock band to conquer the Hot 100 with its first entry on the chart since Nickelback arrived with its four-week No. 1 "How You Remind Me" in December 2001/January 2002. The song went on to become Billboard's top title of 2002. (Electronic/alternative act Owl City ruled the Hot 100 with debut single "Fireflies" in 2009, but the name served as an alias for its only member, Adam Young).
