Kim Gordon (formerly of Sonic Youth) has a memoir called Girl in a Band out Februrary 24th, and a new excerpt has been shared in which Gordon claims Lana Del Rey "doesnít even know what feminism is" among other harsh words:
"Today we have someone like Lana Del Rey, who doesnít even know what feminism is, who believes women can do whatever they want, which, in her world, tilts toward self-destruction, whether itís sleeping with gross old men or getting gang raped by bikers. Equal pay and equal rights would be nice. Naturally, itís just a persona. If she really truly believes itís beautiful when young musicians go out on a hot flame of drugs and depression, why doesnít she just off herself?"
Ryan Dennehy on 02/20/15 - 08:38 AM
Lana Del Rey has announced her next album, Honeymoon, will be released this year in "late August".
The production on four of those nine [recorded songs] is "perfect," she said. She also added: "I'm looking for a few more songs to tie everything together." According to her, it sounds "very different" from Ultraviolence but "similar" to 2012's Born to Die.

"It's growing into something I really like," she said. "I'm kind of enjoying sinking into this more noirish feel for this one. It's been good."

Frances Bean Cobain has taken to Twitter to weigh in on Lana Del Rey's recent Guardian interview.
I'll never know my father because he died young & it becomes a desirable feat because ppl like u think it's "cool". Well, it's fucking not. Embrace life, because u only get one life. The ppl u mentioned wasted that life.Don't be 1 of those ppl

Lana Del Rey has taken to Twitter (and it looks like since deleted) to respond to the Guardian article we posted about last week. Although Ms. Del Rey directly calls out "Alexis" (probably referring to Alexis Petridis who wrote the review of Ultraviolence for The Guardian), the author of the original piece was Tim Jonze. Tim Jonze has written a follow-up piece that includes the audio files from the original interview.
"i regret trusting the guardian- i didnít want to do an interview but the journalist was persistent. Alexis was masked as a fan but was hiding sinister ambitions and angles Maybe heís actually the boring one looking for something interesting to write about. His leading...

Lana Del Rey says she doesn't want to be alive anymore.
"I wish I was dead already," Lana Del Rey says, catching me off guard. She has been talking about the heroes she and her boyfriend share Ė Amy Winehouse and Kurt Cobain among them Ė when I point out that what links them is death and ask if she sees an early death as glamorous. "I don't know. Ummm, yeah." And then the death wish.

Don't say that, I say instinctively.

"But I do."

You don't!

"I do! I don't want to have to keep doing this. But I am."
