Going out with a bang for SXSW is something that is pretty much an expected thing - Saturday generally has the most late-night parties, surprise sets by big-name artists and events of that sort. After barely being able to see any shows on Friday because of meetings, I more than made up for it on Saturday (I know it's Monday now, but Sunday was spent traveling back to LA and recovering from SXSW in general).
I started off the day by seeing a the lasts shows for a couple of the bands I work with, Telepathe and
Currently, I'm down in Austin, TX for SXSW. As I have for the past few years or so, I'll be giving a daily roundup of what bands I'm seeing, what I'm doing, etc (Day 2). Live vicariously through me, and I mean that in a non-egotistical way. You can follow me on twitter if you want to be a stalker.P.S. for anyone complaining about me seeing more obscure acts the past couple of days, today should be better.
People really come to SXSW for three things: music, partying and meetings. Almost every trip to Austin has some kind of combination of the three and either fortunately or unfortunately (I haven't decided yet), yesterday was one of those days where it was almost all meetings, all...

Compared to Day 1 and probably the schedules of most SXSW-attendees, my Thursday can probably be considered pretty light. Going along with the whole full disclosure thing from yesterday, besides AP.net, I'm here at SXSW for the day job of IAMSOUND Records, and so yesterday (Day 2) was the day of our party, meaning technically I got to stay in the same location for about 12 hours running a...

Not sleeping the night before heading out to SXSW is probably not the best way to start things off, but when you have a 6:30 AM flight and you have to wake up at 3 to catch a shuttle to the airport, it can get awfully hard to fall asleep when you know you have so much stuff to do the next day. I was able to sleep all three hours on the plane from LA to Austin but that's the basic minimum I...
The Real You will have their song "Worse for the Wear" featured on tonight's episode of Real World: Brooklyn on MTV tonight at 10 PM Eastern. Additionally, the band has been confirmed for the Myspace Records showcase at SXSW on Thursday, March 19th at The Cedar Door. The Real You will be playing at 3:15 PM.

You can read the older updates about SXSW 2008 in my blog
This last update of SXSW 2008 comes a bit late because while, technically, I could have written this as soon as I got back in to LA on Sunday morning, it would not have been anything remotely legible. The fact that I only slept for half an hour the night before would have caused my update to become one of the worst written things you've ever seen on this website. While you might think that the last day of SXSW would be a little calmer than the rest, you'd be very wrong. In fact, everyone tries and squeeze in one last big party/bash/show the last day, and the options to choose from are more than I can count.
The problem with scheduling things at SXSW (or, rather, making a schedule that you "have" to follow) is that, inevitably, things will happen which totally screw with everything. In my case, it was A) losing my schedule somehow so I had no idea what parties/showcases were where and B) having my phone die, which totally screws everything up. Somewhere, somebody in Austin has my schedule.
In the beginning of the day, all was fine, as I went to check out Lykke Li, who is Sweden's hottest export as of now. She has this one song "Little Bit" which has been taking the industry's ears by storm and the performance was pretty spot on, although her other songs that she performed were not as...
There's a high possibility that these updates will become slightly more delirious and more filled with rambling than actual sentences in the next couple of days, as I'm sitting in bed here and running on another night of very little sleep. Just fair warning, you know. There are two things right now that are my biggest assets, and that would be the gel insoles I bought before I came (they do wonders, really) because I knew I'd be walking around a ton, and packets of Emergen-C. It's amazing what a packet of Emergen-C will do in the mornings, and I swear I'm not being sponsored by them (although if somebody from Emergen-C is currently...
I'm currently in Austin, TX for SXSW and, as in the past couple years, I'm doing daily updates of the shows that I catch and things like that. Here's Day 1, with more to follow of course. Greg Dona is also in SXSW and should be doing updates as well.
This is my third year here at SXSW and things are a bit different this time - for the first time, I finally have a badge (so I can go to all of the official showcases and panels now), and I finally have a hotel room in downtown Austin. What isn't different, however, is the jampacked list of parties and shows that start even before the music portion of SXSW even officially starts, which was yesterday the 12th. My flight left LA at 6:50...
