Following in the footsteps of that 3D-printed record we saw earlier this year, Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke will collaborate with vocalist Bobbie Gordon to record a single for charity that will be "pressed" onto 3D-printed records. This will happen at a pop-up shop in London this December. Check out more info here.
It hasn’t taken long, but here we are, staring down the barrel of the first ever commercially released 3D printed record. Earlier this year researcher Amanda Ghassaei sent a series of (somewhat distorted) shockwaves around the music industry when she posted instructions and prototypes of the first ever 3D printed record onto the open source blog Instructables.

In a recent article, Rick Burch of Jimmy Eat World, revealed they'll be trying to release earlier material and singles on vinyl in the near future.
Burch said the members of Jimmy Eat World are now working on re-releasing some of their early singles and albums in a different format to satisfy younger fans. Yep, Jimmy Eat World has been around long enough to have young adult fans just now discovering their sound. The format for the re-releases won’t be mp3, but vinyl LP disc. In rock and roll, everything comes around again if its coolness quotient transcends the hipness du jour. Hence Jimmy Eat World as a vinyl band for millennial listeners.

Confirming all of our suspicions, Fred Feldman, owner of Triple Crown Records recently did an interview with Haulix to talk about various topics but confirmed that there will be a Deja Entendu vinyl reissue. Now we patiently wait by our keyboards for pre-orders to go live.
Haha, that’s my favorite question! It’s one of those things where I have to remind myself not to be a dick. (laughs) I have a very close relationship with the band, and they always want to put music out a certain way, both aesthetically and sonically. That’s why I don’t want to just press it and put it out there. When we reissued Your Favorite Weapon they went back and remastered the whole thing. They always want to do...

I've been speaking with Will from Cartel a little bit about the Chroma pressing announced earlier today, and he wanted to make sure to pass on the following message.
Enjoy The Ride Records is well within their rights to release this product. Our intentions on Twitter were to let our fans know that this isn't our release that we have talked about for the last few years and that we did not coordinate any aspect of this particular release. That is NOT to say that ETR put out a bad product. From everything we can ascertain, it appears to be of very high quality and would make a great addition to the Cartel vinyl collection.

ETR did contact us regarding their intentions to put this out...

Update #2: Enjoy the Ride says the band was aware of the release in advance.

Update
: Looks like the band didn't approve this release, they knew nothing about it, and they'll be releasing this album on their own as well apparently.

Right after the boom that Record Store Day provided the vinyl industry, The Tennessean reports that Nashville-based United Records, currently the country's largest vinyl pressing plant, will expand its operations to the tune of adding 16 new presses (they currently have 30) in a brand-new warehouse. The expansion will run the plant $5.5 million.
The expansion plans come amid growing demand from vinyl enthusiasts. "Our belief is that it's being driven by the rise in digital," said Jay Millar, United Record's director of marketing. "People who want something tangible and the best sound quality and experience are going to vinyl as opposed to CDs." Millar said the 30 presses at the...
